Wild Greek Oregano Plant Facts
It is a bushy perennial with bright deep purple-brown stems and 1 1/2 inch broadly ovate leaves that often have a red flush.
It grows up to 4 feet high and 2 feet wide.
The aromatic oval-shaped leaves are usually pubescent or fuzzy. Throughout the summer, it bears tiny purple tube-shaped flowers that are about 1/8 in (0.3 cm) long.
As a hearty perennial, Greek Oregano grows wild in its native arid landscape and thrives on neglect. It grows in tufts like weeds, perfuming the air.
With the name Oregano or Origanum, it means the flowering tops of the perennial herb Origanum Vulgaris.
